Like CNET resident food demon I’m biased, but I think food and cooking gifts are the best. There is no shade for fresh flowers or a brilliant Smart watch (great for telling you when it’s time to eat again), but food gifts are superior in almost every way. And you would also agree when I say that food is both soulful and practical. I mean, everyone has to eat.

While not everything on this list is edible (I’ve included some tools), the ones that are don’t take up permanent space, which is perfect if you suspect your Valentine is overflowing with “stuff” or running out of closet space. . .

Now that you see it my way, find the good A gift of food for Valentine’s Day is all that’s left. I’ve included my favorite calming tea, some addictive spice blends, and chocolate truffles so good they’ll make you melt.

All of these meals and drinks are also under $25. That said, there’s nothing cheap about them.

A relaxing blend of herbal infusions including chamomile, rosehip, raspberry leaf, lemongrass and clove. I don’t drink tea very often, but when I do, it’s either afternoon in Missoula or nothing.

Chocolate on Valentine’s Day? Innovative, I know. But if you’re going to give it, give it good. I am partial to creamy truffles and La Maison Du Chocolat takes this craft very seriously. These handmade truffles are not overly sweet, which I prefer, but they are dense and have a rich chocolate flavor. A two-pack costs $10 or you can buy a 13-piece box for $45.

“Umami” jokes aside, these two spice blends will take your ramen or rice bowl to a very tasty place.

Sugarfina has the market almost cornered when it comes to adorable sweets. As a bonus, they all taste great and the pastry chef comes up with some unusual flavors. For Valentine’s Day, get a box of these lovely champagne-flavored gummies. The price may seem high for the sweets, but that’s because they’re made with real Dom Perignon champagne, flavored with Brut and rosé.

If regular conversation heart candy seems a little tame and boring, try a box of the adult version to elicit a few laughs, and maybe more.

I’m too dignified to list these said selaces out loud, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t just ordered a few boxes.

This citrusy, tangy salt is great for rinsing a margarita, but will also liven up chicken and fish. Pair it with a special bottle of tequila and offer to mix up your Valentine’s Day with the classic cocktail.

Rosé is already an easy win for Valentine’s Day, but this Cote des Roses with a rose-shaped bottle bottom goes one step further. The wine itself is from Languedoc, in the south of France, with “notes of raspberry and peony.” Best of all, the bottle takes on the appearance of a rose. Strain one upside down nestled in a dozen roses for a charming presentation.

This sweet and savory treat is also a cheeky way to let them know you think they’re the best. You can drizzle this honey on everything from fried chicken to pie, but if you’re on the spicier side, there’s also a Bees Knees Hot Honey with habanero peppers.

Smart gardens You may get faster results, but in terms of style, they have nothing on these tiny burlap bags for growing herbs on the windowsill.

If your Valentine likes to eat a steak or burger from time to time, but hasn’t yet taken advantage of the wonder of cast iron, this is a perfect opportunity to alter the course of his cooking forever. Cast iron is the optimal indoor cooking material for most meats, as it gets extremely hot and retains heat to leave marks worthy of a magazine cover.

For him tea lover In your life that also appreciates minimalism, this ceramic mug comes with a lid and a single-serve metal infuser, so they can brew in the same mug they drink from. It is available in various solid colors and patterns, to fit anyone’s style. And the double-wall design keeps your tea hot and your hands comfortably warm (without burning yourself).

This set of boutique lollipops (flavors include lavender, lemongrass, vanilla and hibiscus, champagne, rose, and strawberry basil) are already sweet enough, but don’t throw those sticks in the trash. Place them in the soil and they will sprout into various plants, from herbs to sky-blue-eyed flowers. Does this count as a purchase? flowers?

Does it seem a little cheesy to give someone pizza socks for Valentine’s Day? We don’t think so, especially for someone with a healthy sense of humor and who loves pepperoni, of course. (An entire pizza made with socks is even more incredible, but $1 over the $25 limit). You can also get sushi socksIf that doesn’t seem too… suspicious.
