Facebook and Instagram are down: what we know | Trending Viral hub

Starting Tuesday at mid-morning (Eastern Time) GoalSocial media platforms owned by Instagram, Facebook and Messenger were down.

More than 500,000 users reported Instagram, Facebookand Messenger outages that began around 10:08 a.m. EST until fall detector. Reports increased at 10:30 am EST. (Down Detector is owned by ZiffDavis, Mashable’s parent company.) There were over 72,000 posts on Twitter/X about Facebook and Instagram being discontinued.

As of 12 pm EST, the issue appeared to be resolved. At 12:19 p.m., Andy Stone, director of communications at Meta, aware“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have difficulty accessing some of our services. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone affected and apologize for any inconvenience.”

Facebook session expired? What is happening on Facebook.

Facebook users reported being logged out of their accounts and when they tried to log back in they were told “your session had expired.” For example one x user wrote“Anyone else having trouble logging into Facebook? I just got kicked out of the app on my phone and computer and when I try to log back in it tells me the session has expired.”

Metastate showed major outages with Facebook login, WhatsApp Business API, and Meta Admin center.

Meanwhile, Instagram feeds failed to load when users received the “Something went wrong” message.

At the moment it seems to be resolved.
