Writer, filmmaker and actress Ashley Versher said she has tackled a lot of interesting work in the past. But working with Jennifer Lopez on the Amazon Original Movie “This is Me…Now” remains a highlight. “I think my favorite scene was the intervention scene, which we filmed in a beautiful mansion in Bel Air,” said Versher, who divides her time between Los Angeles and New York City. “Jennifer is pretty funny, so it was great to play anything she threw at us. You never knew what she was going to say, so she kept you on your toes in the best way. “I play the role of The Idealist and this scene really challenges that person, because she is romantic and wants to believe in a happily ever after ending.” To stay in touch with Versher, you can follow her on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/ashleyversher/).

Q: Of all the characters you’ve played, which one was most like you and why?

A: Great question! Honestly, I don’t think I’m much like any of the characters I’ve played. I am naturally quirky and some would say funny. So I haven’t had a chance to express that in a big way. But I can say that there are parts of me in every role.

Q: Where are some places where you have filmed your various projects?

A: I’ve filmed most of it in New York. The cool thing is that New York really has its own character and that can change the shape of a project in such a beautiful way. But as for the bad, I mean it’s New York, so crazy things can happen at any time of the day. I would also say that if you are shooting an independent film with little to no licenses, guerrilla style, the challenge is real. People are always trying to get to their destination in New York, so accommodating others is not a strong point of the city.

Q: What is your favorite vacation destination?

A: My all-time favorite is Paris. It is simply a magical city. The food is amazing! Fashion is simple and there are endless things to do and see. You can have a magical time just sitting outside a local coffee shop.

Q: What unexplored destination should people check out?

A: There is a small surf town in Mexico called Sayulita. It is adorable. There is a long beach and many local artist shops and restaurants.

Q: What was a trip you took as a kid that stands out?

A: I love to travel. It’s what I like to do the most, so I’ve never met a trip I haven’t enjoyed. When I was very young, my entire family took a trip across the United States from San Francisco to Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans, Chicago and then back to Los Angeles and finally back home to San Francisco, all in a train! It was incredible! I love my family more than anything, so the memories of that trip hold a special place in my heart.

Q: What is the most important thing you have learned from your travels?

A: Well, two things: make sure you travel with people who travel the way you like to travel; Otherwise, things can quickly become uncomfortable and difficult, and be open to new foods, new languages, new cultures, anything new. Traveling is about learning and experiencing something different from what I am used to, different from what I know. You have to get out of your comfort zone and have fun!

Q: What are your favorite weekend getaways?

A: I love going to Napa and Idyllwild (California) and Las Vegas, honey.

Q: If you’ve ever gone on vacation, what was the best trip?

A: Actually, I spent the last holiday in Nice, Paris, and then rang in the new year at the Oblix restaurant in London. It was fabulous. Christmas in Europe is like no other and since it is my favorite holiday, that makes it even more special.

Q: What are your five favorite cities?

A: Easy! Paris, New York, London, Florence, New Orleans.

Q: Where would you like to go that you’ve never been before?

A: Africa and Japan are at the top of my list!

Q: When you leave, what are some of your must-have items?

A: My white leather Converse, a little black dress, a perfect pair of sunglasses that match every outfit, and of course, my favorite travel companion.

Q: What kind of research do you do before you go on a trip?

A: I go crazy! I love to investigate. I use TripAdvisor, TikTok and YouTube. On my most recent trip to Paris, I found a YouTube channel called Les Frenchies – they had great recommendations!

Q: What is your best vacation memory?

A: There are many to choose from, but one that comes to mind is my most recent trip to Hawaii. I took the most luxurious nap on a beach in Waikiki on the Moana Surfrider.

Q: What’s your guilty pleasure when you’re traveling?

A: A glass of crisp champagne, a delicious cheese and charcuterie board, and all the shopping a girl can do.

Q: Do you speak any foreign languages?

A: Not yet! I am good with Spanish and I have learned a lot of French from my travels and from my family. French is probably the easier of the two for me.

Q: If you could only choose one place to eat, would you prefer a food truck or fine dining?

A: Good food without a doubt! Mainly because I really enjoy the whole experience. Hospitality is about preserving an unforgettable memory. Who wouldn’t like to enjoy a meal like this?
