Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israel – the intentional massacre of defenseless civilians, including children and babies, and the taking of hostages – should have been a unifying moment for the United States. Shamefully, it has become something else: a wake-up call about a crisis in higher education.
It has been painful to see students at elite universities implicitly or explicitly support the Hamas attack. They are not old enough to remember 9/11, and it is clear that they never learned their lesson: intentionally targeting civilians for slaughter is unforgivable, regardless of the political circumstances.
