Hunter Schafer rejects trans roles and wants to go beyond gender identity | Trending Viral hub

hunter schafer said in a new GQ cover story that she has been strategic in trying to divert public attention from her gender identity as a transgender person. The “Euphoria” favorite doesn’t want her identity to be the only topic of conversation about her and has sometimes tried to avoid saying the word “trans” during interviews to ensure that her career isn’t defined solely by their gender identity.

“This has not happened naturally, far from it. “If I let this happen, I would still put ‘Transgender Actress’ before every article,” Schafer said.

“As soon as I say it, it explodes,” she added of when the word “trans” comes up in her interviews. “It took me a while to learn that and it also took me a while to learn that I don’t want to be (reduced to) that, and ultimately I find it degrading to me and what I want to do. Especially after high school, I was sick of talking about it. “I worked really hard to get to where I am, to get through these really difficult points in my transition, and now I just want to be a girl and finally move on.”

Schafer knows “it’s a privilege” to be able to shift the focus beyond her gender identity and says, “It’s been very intentional. I’ve been offered tons of trans roles and I just don’t want to do it. I Dont Want To Talk About It.”

“I know for a fact that I am one of the most famous trans people in the media right now, and I feel a sense of responsibility, and maybe a little guilt, for not being more of a spokesperson,” Schafer concluded. . “But ultimately, I really believe that not making it the center of what I’m doing will allow me to go further. And I think going further and doing amazing things, in the interest of the ‘movement’, will be much more useful than talking about it all the time.”

Schafer’s first acting role was as Jules in “Euphoria,” the Emmy-winning HBO series that marked her breakthrough. Series creator Sam Levinson is writing new scripts for the delayed third season. Schafer made the leap to movie star last year with a supporting role in “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” and now headlines his first film in the lead role with the Neon horror film “Cuckoo “.
