Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda on Wednesday reviewed the party’s preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in five seats in western Madhya Pradesh, where tribal and peasant voters play a decisive role.

Nadda reviewed the election preparations for Indore, Dhar, Jhabua-Ratlam, Khandwa and Khargone at a party meeting here. Around 150 officials, including BJP state general secretary Hitanand Sharma and Madhya Pradesh deputy chief minister and BJP “group in-charge” Jagdish Dewda, were present at the meeting that lasted for about two hours.

After the meeting, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also met Nadda. “Nadda asked us to come out with all our strength to win the elections with a landslide majority,” state cabinet minister Vijay Shah told reporters. Nadda also told the BJP leaders in the group meeting how to take the work of the Narendra Modi-led government among the voters and remove the shortcomings related to election preparation, Shah said.

Another state minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said the meeting laid special emphasis on increasing direct contact with voters and beneficiaries of government schemes.

Nadda told them that workers should go to the public and discuss which party is in the interest of the country, Vijayvargiya said. It is not enough to hold rallies and processions (during elections). Direct contact with voters changes the outcome of elections, the BJP president said.

In 2019, the BJP won seats in Indore, Dhar, Jhabua-Ratlam, Khandwa and Khargone. The five seats will go to the polls on May 13.

Earlier in the day, Nadda visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujiain.
