In Netflix’s first co-production with The Pokémon Company, new stop-motion series Pokémon Janitor promises to immerse you in a paradise of those who take a break from being trapped. And judging by the trailer, it’s going to be a delightful ride.
Produced by Japan’s Dwarf Studios, the series is set on a Pokémon resort island, where a new janitor named Haru (voiced by In this corner of the world‘s Non, dubbed into English by The boy and the heron‘s Karen Fukuhara) has arrived. She joins the team to attempt the brave task of meeting the hotel’s needs for individual guests and their Pokémon, which is no easy task. With the help of Psyduck, she tries to understand the requests of every Pokémon, from Pikachu to Eevee, from Dragonite to Magikarp.
Directed by Iku Ogawa, written by Harumi Doki, with concept art and character designs by Tadahiro Uesugi, the series looks like the vacation we need. Personally, I’ll be listening to that theme song by City Pop legend Mariya Takeuchi all day.
