Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil development projects worth over Rs 19,600 crore in Odisha on Tuesday during his visit to the state.

March 5 also coincides with the birth anniversary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik, after whom the ruling BJD is named.

The projects are in sectors including oil and gas, railways, roads, transport and highways and atomic energy.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ashish Kumar Singh, while talking to ANI, said that the security forces have properly positioned themselves ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.

“Proper arrangements have been made in view of Prime Minister Modi’s visit. More than 3,000 police forces have been deployed under the command of senior officers. As per programmes, the teams have been divided,” Singh said.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate Indian Oil Corporation Ltd’s monoethylene glycol project at Paradip refinery, which will further help reduce dependence on imports from India. He will dedicate the 344 km long oil pipeline from Paradip in Odisha to Haldia in West Bengal to the nation.

To augment import infrastructure on the east coast, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a 0.6 MMTPA LPG import facility in Paradip. It will also unveil the four-laning of Singhara to Binjabahal section of NH-49, Binjabahal to Tileibani section of NH-49, Balasore-Jharpokharia section of NH-18 and Tangi-Bhubaneswar section of NH- 16.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to reach Chandikhole in Jajpur district around 3:30 pm and address a public meeting.

“The chief minister will address a public meeting around 3.30 pm,” said Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal.

March 5 also coincides with the birth anniversary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik, after whom the ruling BJD is named.

It will also lay the foundation stone of the eight-lane Chandikhole-Paradip highway.

The Prime Minister will dedicate the 162 kilometer long Bansapani-Daitari-Tomka-Jakhapura railway line to the nation. It will not only enhance the existing capacity but also facilitate efficient transportation of iron ore and manganese from Keonjhar to the nearest ports and steel plants, the statement said.

Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate a 5 mld seawater desalination plant at Odisha Sands Complex of Indian Rare Earths Ltd. It has been built as part of the field applications of indigenous desalination technologies developed by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

The chief minister last visited the state on February 3 and unveiled projects worth over Rs 68,000 crore.
