Tuesday at 10 a.m.: Stop going back and forth via email or text to schedule a meeting. Yon Google Calendarclick Create > Appointment calendar and set your calendar for all the hours you are free. Hit Next, then you will get a link to share. Send it and your recipient can choose the time that best suits you both. Nice.
Do you receive an unknown call? Type the phone number into Google, Bing or Yahoo in quotes to get an accurate match. The results often include websites, forums, or consumer complaint boards where that number may have been reported. While you’re at it, file a report in reportfraud.ftc.gov. Think of it as community service.
Decipher the symbols: The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) tells you how to pronounce words, but it is not easy to read for most people. Example: The French location of Finistère is pronounced phonetically as fɪnɪˈstɛər. As? On Wikipedia, hover over an IPA pronunciation to see how they are said in plain English.
Remains and waste: You are in the water and you see something floating in the distance. Report it to boatwatch.org. You can report anything you find on a beach, shoreline, or waterway, which can help with search and recovery efforts, accident investigations, and cleanups.
Tech anger is real: Don’t throw your computer out the window because your username and password combination won’t work. First, check that you haven’t added a space at the end. You won’t see it, but it’s a common cause of those “wrong password” errors.
Clean your documents: An easy way to keep things nice and organized is to have different sections start on their own page. Instead of pressing Enter over and over again, try this: In a Word or Google document, place the cursor before where you want to split the text, and then press Ctrl + Enter (Windows) or Command + Enter (Mac).
“I wanted to respond”: As with email, you can mark a text as unread, which can make it easier for you to remember to reply. On iPhone, simply swipe right in a conversation to mark it as unread. On Android, touch and hold a conversation, tap the three pointsso Mark it as unread.
Keyboard Master: On a PC, press the windows key + a number to start or switch to the corresponding program on the taskbar. Yes, you can move programs (just click, hold and drag), so you can easily keep your browser in first place, for example.
Stop, collaborate and listen: Use Spotify? Open one of your playlists, then click three point menu. Select Collaborative Playlist. Now, friends you send it to can add songs to your playlist. Don’t blame me if you send it to someone with questionable music taste.
Make AI smarter: Do you want ChatGPT? or Bard to write you an email, but the tone is not right. Just give clear instructions for what you want. Example: “You are an expert in tenant law. Your landlord is not fixing the air conditioner. Write him an email letting him know that he must take care of it within seven days.” Just remember, AI is not a lawyer, even if it can talk like one.
