Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s viral public relationship has captivated the Internet. Now, so have some of Kelce’s old tweets.
On Wednesday, several of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s social media posts dating back to 2010 recirculated on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), where many of Swift’s fans seemed genuinely amused.
Many online seemed captivated by Kelce’s initial Internet humor and misspellings. Some of her old reflections became memes.
Among the many viral reshares was a 2011 post in which Kelce observed the behavior of a squirrel after giving it a piece of bread. She incorrectly spelled “squirrel” and “piece.”
“I gave a squirrel a piece of bread and it destroyed everything!!! I had no idea they ate bread like that!! Haha #crazy,” he said in the tweet.
A Taylor Swift fan account juxtaposed Kelce’s 2011 comment with Swift’s lyrics from the expanded rerecording of her 2012 song “All Too Well.”
“taylor swift in 2011: since when your brooklyn broke my skin and bones I am a soldier who is regaining half her weight, and the bruise from the twin flames painted you blue? Just between us, did the love story mutilate you too?
travis kelce in 2011: i just gave a piece of bread to a squirle”, post on X said.
Others seemed more amused by Kelce’s tweets about Chipotle or, as he called it for many months in 2010, “#Chipolte.”
“I’m a friend and I’m crying because of your commitment to this spelling,” said one user. published in X with an attached screenshot of Kelce’s enthusiastic tweets about “Chipolte.”
Another old tweet seemed to foreshadow Kelce’s propensity for making his dreams come true. Before he and Swift were romantically involved, Kelce was a fan with a friendship bracelet and a dream.
“The moon seems crazy tonight… I’m going to relax here for a while and visualize my success and my vibe on stage,” one of his old tweets said.
Some fans marveled at what appears to be a lack of “problematic” tweets.
“The speedsters look at Travis’ old tweets to find anything problematic, but all they find is that this guy loves chipotle, can’t spell, and has no thoughts, just vibrations. A king.”, a user published in X.
However, some Reddit sleuths started a thread over what appears to be a screenshot of a 2010 tweet from Kelce’s account. The screenshot of the alleged tweet read: “As a man, something is wrong with you if you pursue girls who weigh more than you!!”
The post was not on X on Wednesday afternoon. Commenters on Reddit had mixed reactions, with some saying it’s not surprising and others suggesting it’s most likely changed in the last decade.
A representative for Kelce did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the Reddit speculation and the general reaction to his tweets.
