Below are a series of sharing options. You can choose the email option to send the file to yourself as an attachment or upload it to a cloud service like Google Drive. To directly download the file, scroll to the bottom of the “Share to” options and tap More. There will be even more options. Look for options that allow you to save the video locally.
On Android, the best option to save it to your phone will be the “Google Files” label. Tap this icon to download the video to your phone, then use Android’s built-in Files app to browse your downloads. On iOS, find the “Save to Files” option and then choose to save the video to your device’s internal storage or your iCloud Drive.
Download TikTok videos to your computer
The easiest option to collect your work is to download the videos from the TikTok website or desktop app. This process is very simple compared to the mobile option.
Go to your favorite video on TikTok.com and right click on it. If you’re watching your own video and you’re signed in to your account, or if the video creator has marked the video’s posts as downloadable, there will be an option in the context menu that says “Download video.”
Click on that option.
Congratulations, you’ve done it! The video will be saved as .mp4 in your downloads folder.
If you don’t see the option to download the video when you right-click, it probably means that the creator of the video hasn’t shared it publicly or hasn’t shared it. chosen to not allow downloads.
Use screen recording
It’s not the neatest option, but you can also record a copy of the video via screen recording on your phone. Screen recording basically takes a screenshot of the video; Once turned on, it will record whatever is playing on your screen until you press stop. Play the TikTok clip while recording the screen and you’ll have a quick and dirty copy saved on your device.
You will need to play the entire video in real time. Keep in mind that this will capture everything that happens on the screen while you record, so if a notification pops up or you switch to another app, it will all be in the video. It also means that you will still see all the menu buttons and text that are normally found around the edges of the screen in a TikTok video, so it won’t be a perfectly clean copy of the video. But it’s better than nothing.
You can record your screen on both iOS and in Android Phones with Android 11 or higher.
In iOS, go to Settings and then Control Center. Tap the green Add button with the plus sign next to the Screen Recording option. This will add a small button with a gray dot icon to your home screen. Tap that and the screen recording will begin.
In Android, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notifications and settings screen. From there, you may need to expand the menu at the top and slide through the settings widgets. Find Screen Record. Tap that and you’ll have options for recording device audio and whether you want to show touches on the screen. Tap start to record.
What about the watermark?
If you downloaded your videos, you’ve probably noticed the faint TikTok watermark on the frame. This watermark will appear on all videos you’ve published, as well as videos you download from other creators. Unfortunately, there is no official way to download a video directly from the platform after you’ve published it without that watermark being applied. If a video is still in your drafts in the TikTok app, meaning you recorded and edited it but haven’t published it yet, you can select the Save Video option and download a version without the watermark.
In general, if you are creating videos, the best thing you can do is use a standalone video editing app to edit the video before posting it online. That way, you’ll always have the original version and won’t have to worry about your distribution platform (and all your hard work) being about to suddenly fail.
