Kanye West has been teasing his new album”vultures,” a collaborative project with R&B singer and producer Ty Dolla $ign, for months. On Tuesday, after multiple setbacks and date changes, West again doubled down on a new release plan that splits the album’s release into three volumes, with the first edition scheduled for February 9.
The second volume is expected to arrive on March 8 and the third part on April 5. These dates could naturally change, considering West’s history of postponements. Tuesday’s announcement also came alongside a video trailer that compiles clips of a burning house, figures disguised in black capes, wolves and more eerie images. The video’s soundtrack is a reworked version of the previously released title track.
Initially, the album was going to be released on January 12, while the title track “Vultures” was released in mid-November. The original version included lines about West’s history of anti-Semitic behavior (“How am I anti-Semitic? I just fucked a Jewish bitch,” he raps on “Vultures”) and was followed by a brief written apology to The Western Jewish community shared on Instagram.
West also played a preview version of the new album at a listening session broadcast live in Miami late last year. That version of “Vultures” featured a variety of notable artists, including Kodak Black, Playboi Carti, Chris Brown and Freddie Gibbs, while Nicki Minaj appeared on the highly anticipated final version of “New Body.” Minaj has since publicly stated that she will not approve of the release of her verse from her song. West too We sampled the Backstreet Boys’ 1997 hit, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” on a track called “Everybody.”
“Vultures” would be West’s first proper album since his 2021 album, “Donda,” which received a nomination for album of the year at the 64th Grammy Awards. He also released a second part of the project called “Donda 2”, but it was reportedly never completed and was available exclusively on his Stem music player.
